Senior Research Fellow – International Security
An exciting opportunity to develop new research workstreams on how warfare and escalation dynamics are changing, and how the balance between conventional and new technologies are reshaping conflict.
Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is seeking a recognised expert in international security to join our Global Governance and Security Centre.
This is an exciting opportunity to help shape influential research and policy debate on modern conflict, alliances, rearmament dynamics and the impact of new and disruptive technologies on warfare.
What you will do
Design and delivery of research projects that contribute to programme and institute strategic goals.
Identify and pursue opportunities for communication and dissemination of project findings, through seminars, workshops, publications and online resources.
Develop new research workstreams, produce high-quality policy analysis
Convene senior stakeholders and provide actionable recommendations for governments, international organisations and wider policy audiences.
What will you bring
You are an expert in shaping innovative security policy agendas.
You will have established yourself as a recognised expert in security policy debates, especially around modern conflict, changes in the international system and in capabilities.
You will be knowledgeable about the inner workings of alliances, have followed NATO changes closely, have a good sense of the contemporary threats states face and be comfortable providing actionable, realistic recommendations to states and international organisations.

Benefits:

Salary: £59,000 - £70,000 per year. Salary dependent on the skills and experience demonstrated against the role criteria.
Contract: Full-time, Permanent.
Location: St James's Square, London. This is a hybrid role based in our London office. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite at least 2 days per week, with flexibility around event requirements needed.
