Senior Research Fellow - Europe
This is a pivotal moment at which to be considering the future options for Europe including it's future growth and competitiveness, security, and geopolitical power in the world.
This is a pivotal moment at which to be considering the future options for Europe. The Trump administration’s decisions have brought to a head challenges long building for Europe: about its own security, its competitiveness, the cohesion of the European Union and the future of Europe’s place in the world. The answers to that will come not just from traditional analysis of the workings of the European Union, but from considering the politics and relations of countries in Europe in the widest sense. These include the UK’s relations with the EU and Europe, and its place in a European economic and security architecture which is shifting significantly.
In this environment, there is a growing demand for rigorous foresight, granular economic and political analysis, and politically attuned regional expertise. Analysis of this nature, which focuses on Europe’s future growth and competitiveness, security, and geopolitical power in the world, is the mission of Chatham House’s Europe programme. Analysis of UK and EU/Europe relations, which encompasses the technicalities of the Brexit debate but also goes beyond these to consider more ambitious and varied defence, security, resilience, and economic relations – is also an important part of our work.
You will bring:
Extensive experience in the field of UK and/or European economic and foreign policy, with a consistent record of successfully leading and delivering substantial, high-quality research outputs.
A significant track record of engaging with and influencing policymakers and decision-makers in relevant organisations.
