Communications Manager
You will devise a promotional strategy for IA, driving article discoverability, increasing journal usage, citations and impact, and grow the journal’s audience and networks.
About the role
International Affairs is one of the world’s leading international relations journals, publishing high-quality scholarship that bridges academic and policy communities. It is produced six times a year by Oxford University Press on behalf of Chatham House.
We are seeking an experienced Communications Manager to lead the development and delivery of a strategic communications approach that enhances the journal’s reach, impact and reputation. This role will focus on increasing article discoverability, strengthening engagement with global audiences, and supporting the journal’s growth in submissions, citations and impact.
What you will do
Develop and implement a data-driven communications strategy aligned with the journal’s editorial and development goals
Lead multi-channel campaigns to promote journal content and increase readership, submissions and engagement
Produce and oversee high-quality communications materials (including newsletters, social media and promotional assets)
Ensure communications activity aligns with evolving digital discoverability trends, including SEO and AI-driven search.
What you will bring
Proven experience designing and delivering multi-channel, data-driven communications strategies
A strong interest in international affairs, foreign policy and global issues
Understanding of academic and policy audiences, and how to engage them effectively
Strong understanding of digital communications platforms and analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics)
Ability to use data to generate actionable insights and improve performance

Salary: £40,000 per year.
Contract: Full-time, Permanent.
Location: Hybrid (Office/Home).This is a hybrid role based in our London office. The successful candidate will be expected to work onsite at least 2 days per week.
