We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Coordinator. You will work with colleagues and senior external stakeholders, including some of the institute’s most generous donors, to convene conversations that retain unrestricted income for the institute, promote Chatham House research and ideas, and raise our profile.
Chatham House has been convening on the most crucial debates in international affairs for over 100 years. This role will be instrumental in organising events for members, high level donors, corporate sponsors, and other key stakeholder groups. These events include those held under the Chatham House Rule and on the record events. The role will drive excellent content into our events programme as well as lead on production of some events.

Principal Responsibilities
Delivery
- Research themes, ideas and speakers that would enable compelling conversations;
- Write excellent event copy in line with Chatham House guidelines;
- Coordinate guest, supplier and internal stakeholders’ queries in the run up to and after the delivery of events;
- Ensure the coordination of marketing and event delivery;
- Attend events and manage logistics as a key contact for Chatham House on-site, being prepared to troubleshoot issues professionally and at short notice
- Track budgets to ensure expenditure is in line with projections for each event where applicable;
- Become proficient in using the CRM database (training provided);
- Ensure compliance with Data Protection;
- Undertake other tasks as required by the Deputy Head of Events - Content;
- Collate event data for reports as required.
People
- Work closely with line-manager and colleagues to ensure that content is appropriate given the broader offering of events across the House;
- Engage with research colleagues to craft event ideas;
- Work collaboratively with colleagues internally, ensuring excellent communication with various teams including AV, catering, Facilities and Communications;
- Build and maintain relationships with colleagues across the institute and external partners, working collaboratively with others.
Strategy
- Support the Deputy Head of Events - Content in developing and delivering a balanced programme of events;
- Plan and deliver events for corporate sponsors and high-level donors to the institute;
- Help design agendas and secure outstanding speakers and moderators for the events, liaising with high-level stakeholders both within and beyond Chatham House;
- Actively contribute to Chatham House's Equality, diversity and inclusion strategy.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience
- Proven experience of event delivery;
- Experience working on high-level events, either paid or unpaid;
- Shows proficiency in administrative and organisational tasks;
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail;
- Excellent interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills (written and oral) with external and internal colleagues;
- Ability to work as part of a team and with individuals at all levels displaying tact, sensitivity and diplomacy at all times;
- Comfortable with prioritizing and balancing different projects and taking the initiative;
- Highly motivated and able to work calmly, quickly and accurately in a pressurised environment;
- Computer proficient with Microsoft Office suite;
- An interest in international affairs;
Desirable Qualities
- Experience in dealing with event management or CRM databases (Training provided);
- Have knowledge and proficiency of the GDPR.

Salary: £31,000 per year.
Contract: Full-time, Permanent.
Location: Hybrid (Office/Home), minimum 2 days in the office per week.
